I shot the moon with the huge super tele lens I never use (because it's crazy heavy and I don't have a tripod), and a few of them actually turned out pretty good. Not the sharpest pics ever made, but pretty decent for a spur of the moment thing. I used a big bag of cloth (my tent) on the windowsill as makeshift tripod and varied the exposure time a bit (from about 1 second to about 5 seconds). A shorter exposure time (1 sec) works better, I think, otherwise the moon will be overexposed and just a white disc agains a black background.
