Beseler Topcon Super D US Navy

Topcon Super D. Try and find one of these. US Navy used these for combat and aerial photography from the early 1960's to the 1980's. This one was found in a thrift store in Oxnard, CA in 1971 for US$300, including 6 lenses, cases, and raggedy instruction books. It's engraved "US Navy" on the bottom plate. They're probably still looking for it. It's that good.

Ohw, very interesting camera! And you made a pretty good score there, only 300 bucks for additional lenses and even instruction books!

@fotohelmut This is also Exacta Bayonet. Topcon licensed Exacta Bayonet in early 1950's. Topcons were better than Nikons, but were not as well marketed. Much sturdier and more ergonomic, and more accurate meter than Nikon F. These were supposed to be popular for a while in Europe, and the military of several countries used these. This one is US Navy surplus and still works fine, even light meter. Try to find one. BTW, Topcon's 58mm f/1.4 is one of the best normal lenses, ever. Intensely sharp and does not vignette, even wide open. www.lomography.com/homes/herbert-4/albums/103229-old_camera… The lens in this photo is the one you want.
