Historical note: The monument was opened on 5 November 1999, on crossing of streets may day and Proletarian, at the beginning of the Literary quarter, erected by public funds.

The figure of the poet weighs 2.2 tons, with a height of 4 m 90 cm made in polished bronze and stands on a granite pedestal. The stone was brought from Siberian granite quarry, lanterns made of Kasli masters.
The poet is represented in a nightgown, with bent arms, which symbolizes the surprise of inspiration.

The monument has been criticized for the external dissimilarity are some anatomical inaccuracies (long toes). In people, the monument called "Karateka" for the aggressive wave of the hand and "Pushkin on a skateboard" for its unusual shape of the pedestal.

The authors of the monument: sculptor G. A. Gevorgyan, and the architect M. G. Matveev.
