Kodak Hawk-eye No. 2 Model C

Kodak No. 2 Cartridge Hawk-eye Model C box camera from about 1914. Seems to work, but no film. My brother-in-law found it at a garage sale and sent it to me for Christmas.

    Isn’t this one of the Brownie models that take common medium format 120 films? You should try it out. The results from the Brownies can be surprisingly good, especially for such an old camera. Kodak 400TX film worked really well with mine.

    @digitaljunk ... I'll be giving this a try, pretty soon, if the 120 film fits. Thanks.

    Cool! Check out this page for the tech specs: www.brownie-camera.com/tech.shtml
    I blocked out the red window and guessed the film winding amount, and used filters to adjust the amount of exposure when necessary (since the shutter speeds and aperture options are limited).
    Good luck with yours!

    How come mine is red?

    @b2377 I think these came in colors. This one is made of cardboard and Buckram, like the cover of a book, and by measure, requires 620 films (expensive).

    Interesting. Mine seems to be made of the same materials, with some metal and wood inside as well, but it takes 120 rolls. Do you have any spare 620 spools? If so, it's possible to respool 120 film onto a 620 spool.

    @b2377 I've only got the 620 spool in the camera. Respooled 120-620 is $15 in ISO 100... www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/129751-REG/Kodak_TMX_620_T_M…

    Oh, have you tried doing it yourself?

    @b2377 No, I still have to buy a spool... www.ebay.com/itm/620-Film-Spool-1-Film-Spool-Brand-New-/151…

    $5!? That's pretty steep for a little piece of plastic!

    @b2377 I wish LSI would bring back 620 for a reasonable price. There are a lot of 620 cameras out there.

    @herbert-4 I agree!

    I think mine uses 616 film. Victorsierra is going to run some through a folding Kodak camera and see if any images come out.

    @neufotomacher I keep hoping for LSI to make 620 at a reasonable price, 50 speed B&W in this in sunlight is perfect. shutter is 1/40 or T and aperture is f/11. My grandmother had a Corona Camara #115 (hecho en Mexico), biggest box camera I've ever seen, #115 film with 8 5x7 exposures on huge wooden rolls. It was a crackle OD color painted metal thing with brass trim, knobs and levers. It had apertures, shutter speeds, and could focus. It had little lens, mirror, and ground glass things to frame photo. The lens was called "Milagro Trio F/9.5". The first photo I remember helping with was a photo of Grandma and friends in front of her Mabel's Beauty Shop on Fountain in Hollywood, Summer 1957, with her shouting "Don't shake, hold it tight on your stomach, don't cut off heads or feets, push the lever!!" The thing disappeared from her house during her funeral (usual sneak thieves among family and friends), Winter 1957. I was 7 years old. For some reason, I remember this vividly, and I was an "early reader".
