We mourn the passing of beloved Lomographer, Klaus Wendland, better known in the community as @klawe. His kind and helpful nature, curiosity, and passion for capturing life through film will be much missed, but always remembered.
Jodi (@jolom) is a experimental photographer and "coincidence addict" from Atlanta, Georgia. We recently had the chance to chat with her about everything analogue, from her wildest experiments with alternative processes to her love of reviving obsolete cameras with instant film.

The Major Oak - ancient tree in Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire, UK. Taken using a 1920 -early 30's cine lens adapted to digital. Acetate negative on twice coated watercolour paper, 8 minutes exposure in UV box. Lightly bleached then toned in green tea less than 1 minute.

Fototour mit der WPC Wide Pinhole Kamera und einem B&W Film. Die Faszination der Pinholefotografie ist immer wieder überwältigend. Man lernt immer mehr dazu. The camera was built from a tiny cardboard box from a gift shop and a lens taken from an old pair of google cardboard VR glasses. Exposure time was about two hours. The pictures don’t show a lot of detail, but I quite like their soft, painterly look.

The Reto Ultra wide and slim has become, along with the Sprocket Rocket, my favorite low-fi device. Even lighter and thinner than my dear Konica Pop Mini (without flash, therefore without batteries!), it can be taken everywhere and takes pictures completely in the Lomo spirit. It's even surprising that Lomography didn't appropriate it, it's so typical: vignetted, wide angle with distortion, plastic lens that catches all the light aberrations in backlight, it's a tiny camera cut out for daytime urban photography (at night it's impossible to use it without flash, with an aperture at F11), for example I loved using it in Paris and Venice. He needs Iso 400 to express himself. I like it so much that I have two: a Reto brand (which is already a copy of the Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim...) and a Japanese copy, the Superheadz Wide & Slim. The latter comes in several colors with a kawaii screen print, mine is blue with a cloud and is called Kumo-San... Totally useless, therefore strictly essential. 😎

Le Reto Ultra wide and slim est devenu, avec le Sprocket Rocket, mon apapreil low-fi favori. Encore plus léger et plus fin que mon cher Konica Pop Mini (car sans flash, donc sans piles!), il s'emporte partout et prend des photos complètement dans l'esprit Lomo. C'est même étonnant que Lomography ne se le soit pas approprié, tellement il est typique : vignetté, grand angle avec distorsion, lentille en plastique qui chope toutes les abberrations lumineuses en contrejour, c'est un appareil taillé pour la photo urbaine de jour (le soir c'est impossible sans flash, avec une ouverture à F11), j'ai par exemple adoré l'utiliser à Paris et à Venise. Il a besoin de 400 Iso pour s'exprimer. Il me plaît tellement que j'en ai deux : un de marque Reto (qui est déjà une copie du Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim...) et une copie japonaise, le Superheadz Wide & slim. Cette dernière se déécline en plusieurs couleurs avec une sérigraphie kawaii, le mien est bleu ciel avec un nuage et se nomme Kumo-San... Totalement inutile, donc rigoureusement indispensable. 😎
I wanted to create some grain - hence I used expired Neofin red to develop the Santa Rae. Even though I exposed at 800 ASA (instead of 1000) all shots appear to be hopelessly underexposed. Or was it the expired Neofin Red (expired already in the 80ies)? I developed 14 minutes agitated at 20 degrees. Film was loaded in a Canon AE 1. Main shots done in Hamburg two weeks ago, some frames last week in France (Bresse area).
