Around the World in Analogue: Iceland

2

“Around the World in Analogue” is your bite-size guide to the most amazing travel destinations across the globe, as documented by the members of the Lomography community. Today, Marek Filipek (@maroraro) shares snapshots of idyllic, Icelandic landscapes shot with the Praktica MTL 5.

This year, in March, myself, my girlfriend and our friends decided to explore Iceland. We were there for four days and drove over 480 miles, but it was all worth it. Even though weather conditions in winter are unfavorable in Iceland, we were fortunate to have beautiful and sunny weather. When I took my pictures I focused on never ending space of the island and snow-covered mountains.

We found the wreck of the Dakota plane and visited Reynisfjara: the black sand beach. It’s an amazing place with breathtaking views.
The next day, we met a little herd of Icelandic horses. They were small, but very friendly and they pose like professional models. After that we visited Secret Lagoon—thermal baths with hot water. I can’t think of a more relaxing thing than the thermal baths, especially in the winter. While I was in Iceland I celebrated my 31st birthday. This wonderful adventure was a perfect gift!
