@charliedontsurf is this in multiple albums? I could have sworn we had some comments here. My likes are all missing too. Is this weird lomography.com stuff or did I dream all that? (Obviously the only two possibilities)

@mike1allison ha ha, yes this is the one which I over exposed and over developed but still managed to end up with a print that looked underexposed, what a gip as you say out there or is it jip?

@mike1allison ah gyp of course! Not a word we use here. I picked it up from a scene in the endless summer, have you seen that old movie?

@charliedontsurf I have it in about 5 formats, most of which you can't play anymore. I think it is one of the best documentaries ever made. Wasn't Miki Dora in that? I don't know why anyone ever got on a board after Miki. Of course youre probably more of a Nat Young or Tom Curren sorta surfer.

@charliedontsurf I'm not a short board fan.... Miki could have ridden a tongue depressor I'm sure. You need to go to the Surfing Museum in Huntington Beach.

@charliedontsurf I've heard the word thrown around in Yorkshire. But as a noun not a verb. It's possible that THAT version really isn't a slur but rather a borrowed word from the Scots. Perhaps the source of the word Gobshyte. (Gawpshite) I love English it's the awesomeest language ever

@mike1allison yes there is some footage of Dora weaving through the crowds at Malibu but mostly its about Mike Hynsen and Robert August. The scene I refer to is early in the movie in Senegal when they fill up the car at an Agip station and the fuel is something like 50 cents a gallon, shock horror. The camera pans to the Agip sign and Bruce Brown in his narration says it really is a gyp:) gobshyte is great, I've also got some interesting Cornish dialect that I could throw at you sometime, maybe drekly lol.!

@mike1allison haven't surfed a shortboard properly in 20years, I'm more into my mid length singles and longboards

@charliedontsurf funny how fresh that film still is. Something about young people and the 60s

@charliedontsurf I just saw the trailer for Endless Winter. I'll have to see that.
    Looks "fresh" as well. :D

@mike1allison its by far the best surf movie, can't be beaten. I could imagine a big budget modern film set in period about them making the movie. Hmm now who would you get to direct it?

Didn't know there was an endless winter, suppose it had to be done, there's something about that movie that is locked in some people's minds.

@mike1allison I'm all for Tarantino on this one:) he nailed the late 60s look in once upon a time in Hollywood. Now we need leading men, brad Pitt would have made a great mike hynson 20 years ago!

@charliedontsurf yes you are probably right.... But I think Wes Anderson would tell the story that never was. Of course we'd have to find roles for all of his usual collaborators ... Wilson brothers, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, Anjelica Huston, Willem Dafoe, Edward Norton, Kumar Pallana, Bob Balaban, Adrien Brody and Tilda Swinton it would be a busy movie but who else to take us to all those locations ???

@charliedontsurf seriously though, someone like James Cameron could tell the story AND add in the surfing and the adventure. I'll call James and see if he's available (LOL)

@charliedontsurf I never knew Bruce Brown also did "on any sunday" his next moview. What a filmography....

@mike1allison it would have to be young unknowns, everyone else is too old! Ive thought about it too, they could mix the classic old surfing footage with new go pro perspectives, you know, cape st Francis from behind the surfer, close ups of side stepping, toes over the nose, what a movie it could be.
