   I have seen a few of these in your photos, are they for flood water? I like this series of photos!

   @roaringtree Thanks!!! Yes, this was a natural brook that would flood when it rains, so at some point they expanded and concreted it to stop the flooding!!! The house I lived in as a teen had a brook that flooded all the time and they did a similar structure to stop the flooding!!! We had chest deep water in our basement from one of the bigger floods as a teen!!!
