Redscale Doubles with myself...

I shot the first layer on the Horizon Perfect for "background". The second layer was shot with my dad's Minolta SRT and a telephoto lens - first time using that lens. After many walks over weeks of time, the roll was complete and I took it for processing. The lab called to tell me there was NOTHING on the roll, except for one frayed, half-image. I did not give the film enough light - and have since learned to ignore the information my dad's camera gives me. I was super sad, all the images I'd carefully collected - lost.

Months later, after getting better acquainted with that telephoto lens, I decided to give it another try. I was lucky in that we had a reeeeeeeally extended Fall season. This time, I shot with the telephoto first. I only shot in full sun, to soak up lots of light. I shot the 2nd layer on the LC-A+ at ASA 100. Six shots left to go, I raced to the park after work to catch the last hour of setting sun. Finished. Again. It felt good. A Happy Accomplishment.

I decided that night, to send the roll to a dependable lab in L.A. - just incase, my local lab might have contributed to the first failure. It would cost more, and I'd have to wait a week for my film - but it would be worth it. The next morning, when I went to rewind the film, it didn't work. Something was wrong. Probably, I hadn't loaded the LC-A correctly, and I'd be left with single images. I hoped that my camera was broken - so the film would be ok. I had to take the camera to my local lab, and asked them to open the camera in the darkroom to figure out the problem. Shelly brought me the film cassette, said, "It's already rewound, but it feels light." It did feel light. Where was my film? Before I knew it, she opened my camera in the well-lit store. We saw my naked film inside. "Close it!" I yelled. She shook her head, sorry. "Your film's no good." I asked her to please process it, there was a chance I could get some images…. I got more than a few, and I'm very happy to share them with you.
