Our Goosie Family May 2017

I will never forget the time my Sweetie-pie discovered a Canada Goose sitting on her nest of eggs one afternoon when we were at Burnaby Lake. We came back and visited that goose and her husband many times over the duration of the incubation period of the babies. The goodies got used to us being around, and we observed them from a distance, quietly and respectfully. It was amazing to learn about the hardships these goose parents go through while nesting. They never leave the nest for more than a few minutes to eat and drink. They will sit there and wait, even in the hot sun, and the pouring rain. And the mother goose gets up on a schedule to turn the eggs. It was a wonderful experience and a privilege to witness the entire process. In the end, they had a nice health batch of goslings.
