Going outside of Pyongyang was always was exciting. We were asked not to take shots, of what we saw on the road, but it was just too tempting. I think it is probably comparable to China 30 years ago. Lots of hard labour on the field and a certain degree of poverty. We saw the process of making salt - which In the DPRK is collected in designated salt fields - quite interesting. And I was happy to shoot some happy portraits at the nampo dam at the taedong river...

Do you like overcast weather? I prefer sunny days for going out and shooting films, however, I also do like overcast because it's the best time to shoot with redscale! I don't know why but it just seems so incredibly easy to take photos of your feet. It's almost like a default when there's nothing else to take photos of. And luckily, some neat shots can come out of it!
